At the start of July, something new took shape in Goole. The sun held firm, the BBQ sizzled, and a pub garden became the stage for Wrestlefest – True Grit Wrestling’s first ever outdoor festival. Now, on Saturday 2nd August, that event premieres for the world to see on TrillerTV+.
This was more than just another wrestling card. Wrestlefest brought together some of the biggest names in TGW history, set against the casual backdrop of a summer afternoon at the Horse & Jockey. There was a beer in hand, music in the air, and the kind of big match atmosphere that only True Grit can deliver.
Unexpected Twists and New Chapters
It wasn’t all smooth sailing heading in. TGW Champion Kemper was sidelined with a knee injury just days before bell time. But out of setback came one of the most surprising match announcements in recent memory –Vusyk vs HT Drake. A match no one saw coming, but one that made perfect sense the moment it was booked.
And it wasn’t the only curveball.
Friendships were tested in a bar fight between Joey Slade and his ‘Hellbound’ ex tag teammate David Grant – a match loaded with tension before the bell had even rung. For those who missed Joey Slade’s Ask Me Anything interview on Patreon you can sign up to listen back here. Elsewhere, Natalie Sykes made her long-awaited return to face Alexxis Falcon, setting up a battle that felt personal, even before the opening lock-up.
Championships on the Line
Three title matches shaped the card and raised the stakes for everyone involved. The Women’s Championship saw Rhio step into the ring with Lily Winter, while the Tag Team belts were defended by The Regime, represented by Sash and Brad Matthews, under the Freebird Rule.
Then there was the Pride Championship, as Adam Bolt put his title on the line against rising star Sammy Blue – a match with clear implications for the road to Summertime Slam.
Add in the hard-hitting clash between NRG and Crashboat, and this was a show that covered every side of the TGW style – from pure chaos to technical showcase, from bitter grudges to breakout moments.
A Festival Worth Repeating
Those lucky enough to be there will tell you: this was one of the most memorable TGW events to date. It had the matches, yes – but it also had that rare festival feel. Sunlight over the ring, fans cheering from benches, a few scorched sausages, and wrestlers throwing everything they had into the summer air.
Now, the rest of the TGW community can watch it all unfold from start to finish. Whether you’re reliving the day or seeing it for the first time, Wrestlefest 2025 captures a moment in True Grit history when things felt bigger – and freer – than ever before.
Streaming from Saturday 2nd August on TrillerTV+.
